Year 5 catapult testing

Year 5 have been testing their catapults this week. Over the past few weeks, the class looked at an array of different catapults and carried out independent research for their homework. Following this, they all worked in small groups and developed the design of their catapults. Once a design was agreed, the class made a checklist for all the materials they would need in order to be able to make it in the classroom.

Once completed, each group had three attempts to fire a marshmallow across the classroom and they measured each attempt. The testing was a huge success and each group managed to make a fully functional catapult. This displayed some fantastic teamwork and they all should be proud of their achievements.
